Dismantling White Supremacy Culture in Suicide Care

Unlike conventional programs like Mental Health First Aid and QPR, which primarily focus on clinical, individualistic, and culturally insensitive approaches to understanding suicide, our training offers a refreshing alternative.

Our transformational one-day, 6-hour training experience called Community Care and Support Offering for Suicidal People takes a comprehensive approach, delving deep into the social, economic, and political structures that shape despair and hopelessness. We go beyond the narrow perspective of “chemical imbalances” and explore the broader factors that contribute to suicidal ideation. By understanding these underlying influences, participants gain a more holistic understanding of suicide and how to address it.

Our transformative 2-hour-and-a-half workshop titled Checking in on Your Friends: Protecting our Mental Health with Community Care aims to shift the focus from individual responsibility to collective action through engaging and practical exercises that delve into the principles of community care and emphasize using compassionate tools to assist our communities during times of emotional intensity. By exploring these concepts together, we can foster supportive environments that address the broader factors affecting mental health.
